Around the Block: Mike

Meet the neighbor!

Mike is a Warehouse District resident who gives back to the community in many ways. He has been instrumental in helping the District look and feel more beautiful, thanks to his handiwork and spruce-ups on many impactful projects ranging from W 6th Street benches, Lighthouse Park railings, Superior Hill picnic tables, and more!

"Little improvements have a big reward. It's great to walk outside in the morning and see the benefits of these short projects. It's fun, and it's just nice to make things better."

Why do you call the Warehouse District home?

I moved to The Bradley in the Warehouse District in 1997 after living in Manhattan. I wanted a similar urban lifestyle and experience, and I loved that living here meant that I could walk to work.

What do you love most about your Bradley Building apartment?

The 14’ tall ceilings in my unit are a huge draw, along with large windows that have views looking out across Lake Erie.

What do you enjoy about the warehouse district?

All of the local establishments, along with the convenience of everything and the walkability. One particular favorite local business is Camino for their tacos.

how did you become involved with the warehouse district? Why do you still volunteer?

One time I overheard that the wooden benches on West 6th Street needed to be refinished. I decided to offer my assistance to help do that, and I stayed involved ever since. I like to do it because it’s fun, I enjoy talking to people on the street while I’m working, and it’s nice to give back to my neighborhood and see immediate improvements.

What recent projects have you helped out with?

In addition to refinishing the West 6th Street benches, I have recently painted and refreshed the picnic tables at Superior Hill park and have painted the metal fence at Lighthouse Park.

Thanks for all that you do for our Warehouse District and Downtown Cleveland community, Mike!
