Around the Block: Gil and Aimee

Meet the neighbors!

Gil and Aimee are Warehouse District residents who love their apartment home in The Worthington Square.

Having lived in Downtown Cleveland since 2002, Gil has always loved the convenience and walkability of urban living. The short walk to the office was a huge draw, and now that he works from home as a self-employed lawyer, he enjoys all the nearby amenities and neighborhood establishments. Likewise, Aimee has enjoyed calling the Warehouse District home since she moved here in 2016, and she works from home as a relocation expert with SIRVA.

Why do you call the Warehouse District home?

We love Downtown, and we love being in a historic neighborhood with lots of character. An apartment or condo in the suburbs doesn’t have the views that Downtown Cleveland offers, and the walkability here is an important factor, both for convenience and exercise. It’s also great having a grocery store (Constantino’s) right around the corner. We can walk to the lake at North Coast Harbor, the nightlife in the Flats, Browns games at FirstEnergy Stadium, the Rock Hall – everything is close and walkable. It's also nice to be near places like the Cleveland Clinic, other communities like Lakewood, and natural assets like Edgewater Park.

Additionally, we feel safer Downtown than other neighborhoods, since there are always people around, and the Downtown Cleveland Alliance Clean and Safe Ambassadors do a great job. We always see them cleaning something, picking something up, and driving their trucks by. We love being able to call the ambassadors at (216) 621-6000 if we ever have an issue or need anything.

What do you love most about your Worthington Square apartment?

The apartments have a lot of character! We love the industrial chic architecture and aesthetics of the apartment. The best features are the arched windows and the brick walls. All this historic charm is blended with modern amenities and features. We also like how we know all our neighbors and are in a smaller building with a sense of community.

As a bonus, we love watching the 4th of July fireworks from our living room windows, and we enjoy the hidden gem courtyard that we have access to.

What are your favorite local establishments to support?

Camino is one of our favorites, also we go to Cleveland Chop a lot and Blue Point Grille. Love Mallorca too! Whether you want to spend $10 or $100, there’s an option in the Warehouse District. We can throw on a hoodie and jeans to enjoy the neighborhood bar feel at places like Camino, Map Room, and Johnny’s Little Bar, or enjoy an evening of fine dining at Blue Point and Acqua di Luca.

What else do you enjoy about your Downtown and Warehouse District lifestyle?

Living downtown is good for the environment, since there’s not as much driving. Because of the walkability and conveniences here, we have downsized to only 1 car that we share.

We love calling the Warehouse District home and enjoying all it has to offer!
