Take a Hike fans and historic photos fans rejoice! This article is for you! Four photos of buildings featured on the Warehouse District Take a Hike© Tour from their heyday. If you haven’t taken the tour yet, don, worry! It’s still available with the Take a Hike© Season Insider Program! More information can be found here.

1. This photo shows the L.F. Burgess Grocers Building shortly before it was renovated into offices. This renovation also transformed the outside of the building back to much of its original look. This building was erected in 1873 to house the grocers that lend their name to the building. They were one of the best known at that time.

2. The Western Reserve Building, pictured here in 1947, has always been an office building. Built in 1891 and finished in 1892, the original structure pictured here was designed by Burnham and Root, a highly respected architecture firm.

3. The Rockefeller Building is pictured here in 1922, during a brief period when the building was known as “The Kirby Building”. The temporary name change was the result of a feud in which John D. Rockefeller paid a lot of money to restore his name to the iconic building. To hear more about the feud, check out the Warehouse District Take a Hike© Tour!

4. The Warehouse District was once home to Cleveland’s Main Lighthouse. The first one was built in 1830 and was torn down in 1872. This photo shows the lighthouse and adjoining dwelling in 1870.
