2019: YEAR IN REVIEW

From all of us at the Warehouse District and the Historic Warehouse District Development Corporation (HWDDC), thank you for a fantastic year! Here are some 2019 neighborhood highlights:

New to the District in 2019:

We’ve welcomed several new businesses to the district:

Main Avenue Chalk Wall: Sketching History

The space under the Main Avenue Bridge came to life with the history and icons of Cleveland’s First neighborhood! Images include the visage of Levi Johnson and his lighthouse, and J D. Rockefeller ( pictured with grandson Fowler McCormick) next to the iconic building where his name is permanently displayed.

Thank you to Mac Love and ART x LOVE for helping us bring this history to life!

Inaugural Warehouse District History Week: Who is Levi Johnson?

In the Summer we celebrated the history of Cleveland’s first neighborhood through the the perspective of Levi Johnson, one of the Warehouse District’s original residents and visionary. Interactive events like the architectural scavenger hunt, history trivia, special edition historical tours, and the installation of the FINAL the Art Anthology pieces helped encouraged residents and friends to get involved and learn more about our neighborhood’s past!

Warehouse Wednesdays: Music, Food & Art!

We reinvigorated what was formerly known as “Java & Jive” and brought it to a beautiful new venue - the Courtyard of Worthington Yards.

The weekly series was free and open to the public featuring an acoustic performance from a local musician. Lunch was available onsite from District restaurants and attendees had an opportunity to tour the Yards Project, an onsite art gallery featuring the work of more than 30 local artists!
